RODE VIDEOMICRO II ultra-compact video microphone with HELIX shock-absorbing mount

INTRODUCING THE VIDEOMICRO II RØDE launched the original VideoMicro camera microphone almost a decade ago as the first entry-level camera microphone able to deliver professional sound quality in a startlingly compact form. The iconic microphone has been the choice of amateur and professional creators in their thousands ever since. The VideoMicro II keeps every quality that made its predecessor such a success while adding a whole set of new features that push performance further. It is a true condenser shotgun microphone whose highly directional supercardioid pattern locks onto the source while effectively rejecting ambient noise. The redesigned body carries the circular acoustic ports developed by RØDE, which keep the sound of the microphone uncommonly light, natural and uncoloured. The electronics have been given a makeover too, for even more sensitive and quieter recordings. Battery-free operation and the complete absence of complicated settings make this a microphone you can pick up and use in seconds. The perfect choice for creators who want to step up the audio quality of their camera or smart device without any fuss. This innovative suspension system fits the dimensions of the microphone exactly and solves a number of problems that conventional mounts never quite handle when faced with a small, lightweight microphone. Moulded in one piece, without joins, from soft Hytrel® plastic, its pioneering shape isolates the capsule completely from the knocks, jolts and general handling vibration that would otherwise show up as noise in the recording. Its size matches the microphone precisely, so it holds it steady, while its optimised shape has not the slightest acoustic effect on the performance of the microphone. The mount also has a cable clip so the microphone cable can be kept tidy, and its shoe mount carries a 3/8" thread so it can be fitted to a hot shoe as well as to a standard microphone stand. A foam windshield and a deluxe furry windshield are supplied with the microphone as standard. With these accessories the VideoMicro II is equally at home outdoors, even in rougher weather. Also in the box are a 3.5mm TRS mini jack cable and a 3.5mm TRS-TRRS mini jack cable for connecting the microphone to cameras and to mobile devices. COMPACT, FEATHERWEIGHT AND STILL INDESTRUCTIBLE At a mere 39 grams the VideoMicro II is an ideal match for DSLR and mirrorless cameras, action cameras and mobile phones. Its compact design makes it easy to carry, it takes up little room in a camera bag and it slips into a belt pouch or a backpack. Small as it is, the microphone is still extremely rugged. The body is metal, and the electronics and accessories are built from premium materials in Sydney, Australia, on the world-class production lines of RØDE. Please note: the microphone needs 2-5V plug-on power, which has to be supplied by the camera or another external device! For better sound quality we recommend switching the AGC (automatic gain control) function off on the camera or the recorder!
